Police are continuing to investigate the deaths of three people in a house on the outskirts of Feilding earlier this week and will likely release their names today.

The bodies of two men and a woman -- found dead in an apparent murder suicide -- were removed from the Lees Road property yesterday, Kim Perks said.

Police began formal identification yesterday and were expected to complete it today, she said.

Names of the dead, an elderly man and a middle-aged couple, would not be released until then.

The New Zealand Herald reported yesterday the couple living at the house were Deborah Honeyfield, a registered nurse for MidCentral Health, and her partner, Desmond Winnie, listed on the electoral roll as a technician.

It was also reported the elderly man was believed to be the father of one of them.

Yesterday police chaplain Chris Martin visited the house to bless those who died and tomorrow he will return to offer a prayer and bless the house.

Police were contacted by a visitor to a house about 10.20am on Monday and arrived to find the bodies.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths and there was no risk to public safety.

Police would begin post-mortems today and forensic examiners expected to be at the Lees Road house for the next couple of days.

Tragedy has struck four times around the small Manawatu town in the past six weeks. The discovery of the bodies comes after last month's still unsolved murder of farmer Scott Guy, 31, and the deaths of pilot Jessica Neeson, 27, and her student Patricia Smallman, 64, in an air collision near Feilding Aerodrome, and this month's death of local soldier Tim O'Donnell, 28, in Afghanistan.

A memorial gathering in the town has been planned for Friday after requests from residents.
