A post mortem will be carried out this morning on the body of a man found in a West Auckland house last night.
Police were called to a Henderson address at about 10pm, after a 64-year-old man was found dead by family members in what were considered suspicious circumstances. They found a man lying on the floor of a garage. He was bleeding.
One report said the man had stab wounds.
An ambulance was called but the man was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Police remained at the address overnight and a scene examination was taking place today.
The post mortem would help to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death, police said.
Members of the man's family were at the address at the time he was discovered.
"No persons are currently sought in relation to this matter and the police investigation is continuing to establish the true nature of the incident," Senior Sergeant Lance Gardiner said.
