Police have named the two women killed in a head-on crash near Hamilton yesterday afternoon.
They were Christine Jeanette McRobbie, 68, from Taupo, and Marjorie West, 89, from Morrinsville.
Earlier today police said the crash may have been caused by Mrs McRobbie having a diabetes-related attack. She drifted across the centre line and crashed into a car carrying three people, on State Highway 1B near Gordonton.
Mrs West was a rear seat passenger in the other vehicle.
Yesterday, Joshua Stephenson, 28, of Palmerston North, died after his car crossed the centre line and collided with a van in Palmerston North.
The driver of the van suffered a broken foot in the crash about 1.15am in Aokautere Dr, police said.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man died in hospital yesterday after a crash in Auckland on Wednesday, police say.
The man was injured in a crash in Mount Eden Rd about 5.30pm on Wednesday, police said.
His death is not included in the weekend road toll of three.
