A 40-year-old Gisborne woman was arrested last night and charged with stabbing her partner three times in the back.
Acting Senior Sergeant Lincoln Sycamore said the 27-year-old victim escaped with minor cuts.
"There's three stab wounds but he didn't even need a stay in hospital."
He said the pair had an argument which appeared to have escalated.
The woman appeared in court today charged with injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault and breaching bail conditions relating to earlier charges.
She was remanded to a later date.
