AS 2.9 million EasyVote cards go out to those who have enrolled for the general election on November 8, more than 50 enrolment forms a day are still coming in for the two Dunedin electorates.
Registrar of Electors for Dunedin North and Dunedin South Dee Vickers reminded those eligible to vote that they had until midnight on Friday, November 7 to enroll, but it was wise to do it before then.
It was hard to know exactly how many eligible voters were still not enrolled in Dunedin. Estimates for Dunedin North showed about 8500 still missing, but that figure would probably have included many students who had returned to home electorates.
In South Dunedin there were an estimated 720 people not yet enrolled.
Yesterday, EasyVote cards and information packs were mailed out to enrolled voters and Ms Vickers said people should have received them by the weekend.
"Voters take the EasyVote card with them when they vote. It contains their name and address, their electorate and where they are on the electoral roll."
Ms Vickers said people could still vote without a card, but it made it slightly slower because returning office staff would take longer to find their names on the roll.
Those who enrolled after the rolls closed on October 8 would not receive cards, but would have letters to take with them when they voted.
