Army helicopter pilot and playboy prince, Harry, is to be the inspiration for a plastic toy soldier.

Model manufacturer Hornby has announced plans to launch a range of tanks, helicopters and soldiers based on the British Army in Afghanistan, with one of the uniformed officers to be modelled on the 27-year-old redhead royal, British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reports.

The face of the toy soldier is unlikely to resemble the third in line to the throne, but a photograph of the Prince - wearing camouflage gear, helmet and carrying a firearm - on patrol in Afghanistan in 2008, will be used to ensure appointments and attire is accurately represented.

The range of toys, which will include six different soldiers, is expected to go on sale in 2012.
