Welcome to The Great Kiwi Home & Living Show 2018 to be held over two days this weekend at the iconic Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin. With visitors from all over the lower South Island, the show caters for everyone from the hard-nosed DIY enthusiast to lovers of fine food and entertainment, as well as families wanting an enjoyable and relaxing day out. A wide range of exhibitors will offer you ideas, information and inspiration, from new-home-builders to architects, interior designers, the latest trends inside the home, and of course, outdoor living.

This year, our food zone has changed its name to Whitestone Cheese Fresh Food Show. With continued support from Whitestone Cheese, the show combines even more delicious food choices alongside an even bigger food entertainment programme. With celebrity chefs Simon Gault, Annabel Langbein and Brett McGregor sure to excite show-goers, Fleur Sullivan will also be talking about her journey as one of Otago’s iconic food celebrities.

From a local perspective, we are delighted to bring you the very first Otago Polytechnic Farm to Fork Chef Challenge involving four top local chefs competing in a mystery box live cooking challenge. The Gilbert’s Fine Food Great Southern Cake-off competitions will attempt to find the best cake-maker in the South, with registration hugely oversubscribed. Other competitions such as the regional finals of NZChefs Kiwi Kids Can Cook and the Icing on the Cake Challenge are not to be missed.

Activities for children in the PlaceMakers Family Fun Zone will keep the young ones entertained for hours. Magic, storytelling, bouncy castles, face-painting, and have-a-go sports are a few of the activities on offer. Plus, a playhouse built by PlaceMakers and Otago Polytechnic will be won by one of our local early-childhood providers, so be sure to make your vote count at the show.

In the Drivesouth Motoring & Boating Zone, leading brands will be ready to showcase their latest cars and boats. Joining them will be special guest Maserati, coming to the show for the first time, so look out for its brand-new luxury models on display. We also have a special appearance from the very first motor vehicle in Dunedin, the 1901 Locomobile steam car originally owned by T.W. Kempthorne.

The Strawberry Sound Seminar Lounge will be full of inspirational and motivational speakers ready to impart their knowledge and ideas on the latest home and living trends.
