Seven people were assaulted, six in unprovoked attacks, during a weekend of violence in Queenstown.
Victims included a woman on crutches, a 60-year-old man who was pushed into Lake Wakatipu, and a man who was hospitalised after being knocked unconscious by a punch to the head.
A 27-year-old man has been charged with two assaults and one count of injuring with intent to injure, after an incident in the CBD at 10.30pm on Friday.
Sergeant Steve Watt said the man was walking near Steamer Wharf with an associate when he "randomly'' pushed over an Indian woman on crutches.
The pair then proceeded to Earnslaw Park, where the man pushed another man in an unprovoked attack. He then pushed a 60-year-old Asian man, who was also kicked in the back of the legs. The pair then pushed the man down a set of stairs leading down to the lakefront, before pushing him into the lake.
Sgt Watt said many of the incidents were captured on CCTV, and he was keen to hear from the first two victims, who had not come forward to police.
A further two incidents were reported to police at 1.30am on Saturday. In one, a man aged in his 20s assaulted three men by punching them in the head, and spat on a woman, in an unprovoked attacked outside Night'n Day on Shotover St.
One of the victims received a broken nose.
"The offender was extremely aggravated,'' Sgt Watt said.
He was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and one count of injuring with intent to injure.
Another man, also in his 20s, was arrested after an altercation outside a bar in The Mall, which left the victim needing to be taken to hospital after he was punched in the head and knocked unconscious.
Sgt Watt said the offender had been kicked out of the bar after the two men got into an altercation inside, and the incident carried on out on the street.
He was charged with injuring with intent to injure. He was also charged in relation to cannabis utensils found on him after he was searched by police.
All three men are expected to appear in the Queenstown District Court today.
