Police have named a man seriously injured in a crash at Hilderthorpe, near Oamaru, on Friday afternoon.
Walter Stahl (56), of Auckland, was the driver of a Ford Falcon car which crossed the centre line on State Highway 1 at 4.30pm and collided with a southbound Allied Pickford truck.
The highway was closed, with a detour in place, until 12.30am on Saturday.
The driver of the truck was uninjured.
Mr Stahl's condition was listed as serious and he was in intensive care, a Dunedin Hospital spokeswoman said.
