Flight changes expected to 'go ahead regardless'

Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean has met Eagle Air general manager Grant Kerr to discuss concerns about the new timetable for Oamaru's air service.

More than 20 callers rang her electorate office to register their concern at the impending timetable changes.

However, Mrs Dean said it was clear the airline would "go ahead regardless" with the new schedule.

From May 18, the service from Oamaru to Christchurch will leave at 9.35am, instead of 7.05am, while the service from Christchurch to Oamaru will leave at 8.30am rather than 6.20pm.

The airline will not continue to operate a service to Christchurch on Friday nights or to Oamaru on Sunday nights.

Last month, Mr Kerr said the changes had been made following a review of the service, which showed there were many more customers using the service to Oamaru rather than out of town.
