A 27-year-old unemployed South Canterbury man has pleaded guilty in the Oamaru District Court to 19 charges relating to an international paedophile ring.
Judge David Saunders yesterday further remanded the man in custody for sentence on June 5.
The charges include making, possessing and distributing objectionable material.
The man, whose name is suppressed, is a former Oamaru resident.
A further 15 charges relating to making, distributing, and possessing objectionable material have been withdrawn.
Judge Saunders said the summary of facts would be suppressed until sentencing. The details of the case were likely to attract publicity, and they needed to be balanced by submissions from counsel, the judge said. A psychiatric report has been ordered.
The charges date to May last year and follow a national investigation by police.
Last month, Aaron Ellmers pleaded guilty in the Hastings District Court to 60 charges including sexual violation of children, stupefying, making an intimate visual recording, dealing in people for sexual exploitation and attempted sexual conduct with a child under 12. He is remanded to be sentenced in May.
Another man, whose name is suppressed, has also admitted charges.
