It's a dog's life. Well, it is for Palmerston couple Pat and Robyn Crook.

Meet Gizmo, Bobby, Jett, Willow, Tulula, Sprinkle, Rogue, Seska, Pippi, Mouse, Gensia, Keearla, Posy, Breeze and Sahara. They are aged between 2 and 8 and are chihuahuas crossed variously with either a Pomeranian, papillon or Tibetan spaniel.

"Of course I can tell them apart. They've all got different personalities, haven't they," Mrs Crook said as she prepared to take the pack for a walk.

"Tulula is very laid back, while we call Pippi 'Dippy Pippi', because she really doesn't have a brain in her head. Rogue is the naughty girl. Well ... she's mischievous, anyway."

The Crooks create a spectacle when they dress up the 15 dogs in custom overcoats and take them on their regular outing in Dunedin in a buggy built for triplet children.

"They've got a lot of clothes and bling. The girls go on top of the buggy and the boys are underneath," Mrs Crook said.

"We get mobbed sometimes. We've had buses see us and pull over so the driver and the passengers can stop and have a look. They've caused lots of near accidents."

When the dogs aren't showing off their wheels and bling in Dunedin, they can be found doing regular dog stuff at home.

"They spend most of their time running around and chasing things at our quarter-acre block at Palmerston, so it's something a bit different for them when they come into town," Mr Crook said.
