Between 65-70 entries will cruise through Oamaru during the 51st annual Windsor Rally today.

Organiser John Miller, who owns an original 1937 Chevrolet Tour Sedan and an original 1928 Chevrolet, purchased with 70,000km on the clock for 70 in 1958-59, said this year's rally coincided with 100 years of Chevrolet.

The 1928 model is especially significant because it featured the last four-cylinder engine used by Chevrolet until the late 1960s, he said.

That year was also just the second in which Chevrolet had out-sold Ford.

Classifications for the rally include veteran, vintage, post vintage, post-war vintage, post 60v, post 80v, commercial and motorcycles.

Mr Miller said the rally was likely to include Rolls-Royces, Bentleys and a five-cylinder Chrysler Airflow.

The rally will assemble before 9.45am today at the Stoke St Reserve, before proceeding west from Thames St to Eden St, and on to Stoke St. Alternate routes will be available.

Activities will begin at the Stoke St clubrooms late this afternoon, followed by a smorgasbord meal at 5.30pm.
