Rush on music festival tickets

About 3500 tickets have already been sold for a 48-hour festival featuring New Zealand music, near Twizel in February.

A thousand early-bird tickets, which went on sale in September, sold out in just four hours, Rosie Moore, from Christchurch-based Mission Controlled Event Management, said.

She was "really stoked" with how keen musicians were to play at A. R. E. A. 9.

Bands confirmed include Katchafire, Rhombus, Kora, Salmonella Dub, The Phoenix Foundation, The Black Seeds and dDub.

The backdrop for the festival was "amazing", with world-classviews.

It was an opportunity for people to enjoy a "really good Kiwi event", listen to most of the good bands in New Zealand, camp and "chill out", Ms Moore said.

Lifestyle sports at the festival will include skateboarding, zorbing and a motocross display.

Gates will open on February 6 and the event will finish at midday on February 8.

It would be held twice a year, she said.
