An anti-speeding campaign by Wanaka police has caught 26 motorists during its first week.
Wanaka sub-area commander Senior Sergeant Allan Grindell said traffic patrol officers have issued the infringement notices to motorists since the campaign's start, on Monday, ''the vast majority of them ... for speeding''.
Traffic patrols were keeping an eye on motorists crossing the centre line and ''driving inconsiderately''.
Motorists driving too slowly and holding up following traffic could become very frustrating, Snr Sgt Grindell said.
''It can be a huge bugbear for a lot of drivers, especially as the roads start to get busier.''
The traffic campaign has focused on the rural roads around Wanaka and will run for about two weeks, before its focus shifts to drink-driving before Christmas.
As part of the local police traffic campaign, officers have been instructed to breath-test any motorist they stop, he said.
