Remarkables Park last week began building part of the eastern access road, designed to complete a bypass around the end of the Queenstown Airport runway and connect to a new roundabout on State Highway 6-Ladies Mile. Photo by James Beech.

The $5 million construction of a section of the eastern access road near Remarkables Park Town Centre will pause on Saturdays to allow safe public access to the Remarkables Market, the developer says.

Remarkables Park Ltd co-director Alastair Porter said his company's construction of the long-awaited road was programmed to finish in mid-April.

However, the popular produce and craft market would not be hindered while it continued its summer Saturday morning run until March 23.

The 650 sections on the eastern access road, plus its pair of 200m intersecting roads called Red Oaks Dr and ''Road 4'', would enable the development of more retail outlets, housing and the new high school on the greenfields site, Mr Porter said.

The market is held in and around the Red Barn, located near the intersection with Red Oaks Dr.
