Police have confirmed bones found on the shore of Lake Wakatipu on Thursday evening belonged to an animal.
The bones were discovered by a Kingston resident, near the base of the Kingston wharf.
Acting Senior Sergeant Steve Watt said today the bones had been examined by the University of Otago, and he thanked them for their help.
