Police arrested three men on illegal hunting and firearms possession charges as they returned from Chinaman's Bluff, north of Glenorchy, early on Monday.
Sergeant Linda Stevens, of Queenstown, said two Cromwell men aged 19 and 41 and a Queenstown man aged 38 were stopped while driving a four-wheel drive utility vehicle as they entered Queenstown from the Queenstown-Glenorchy Rd at 6.30am.
Sgt Stevens said the men had been hunting deer without consent from the landowner.
It is not known if the trio shot any animals.
All three were charged with unlawful hunting while the two Cromwell men were further charged with unlawful possession of firearms.
They will appear in the Queenstown District Court on Monday.
