Real Journeys is searching for stories, photographs and memorabilia about TSS Earnslaw in preparation for the Wakatipu steamship's centenary celebrations next year.
All those who contribute to the history of the vintage steamship will go into the draw to win a double pass, worth $700, on the exclusive first commissioned sailing re-enactment cruise.
The Earnslaw's centenary celebrations will be held for a week from October 18, 2012, and a website dedicated to the celebrations has been set up.
Real Journeys international sales general manager Tony McQuilkin said Earnslaw had been the main source of transport for early high-country farmers and was now a Queenstown tourist attraction, meaning stories about the steamship were "endless".
"We're hoping people will remember anything from their first cruise to their favourite TSS Earnslaw anecdote and we'd love to see copies of photos or memorabilia.
"With all the interest in the centenary, it's a great opportunity to ensure there's a comprehensive account of all aspects of this national treasure, not only for this event but for generations to come," Mr McQuilkin said.
Real Journeys was already taking bookings for the centenary celebrations, the highlights of which would be the first sailing re-enactment cruise, with period costumes, a woolshed party at Mt Nicholas Station and a staff reunion.
"We've had great interest in this event, both from here and Australia so we expect the tickets for key events to sell out very quickly," he said.
