A safety system failure was the cause of Queenstown firefighters being called to a suspected gas leak at the Gasco refuelling station on Gorge Rd last night.
Station Officer Duncan Fisher said the gas bottle refuelling station had a safety system for people working on their own at night.
"The person has to push a button every 10 minutes to let the system know they are OK. But that system failed and the alarm was sent through to us even though the person had pushed the button and was OK," he said.
