Air New Zealand would wait "a couple of weeks" before deciding what to do about its in-flight safety video which made headlines across the country yesterday.

The airline removed a scene from its video depicting All Black Richard Kahui rejecting the offer of a gay Air New Zealand flight attendant to kiss his cheek.

At The Hills during a welcome for the 2010 Star Alliance conference, Air New Zealand chief executive Rob Fyfe said it was "an interesting issue".

"We had one complaint suggesting that was homophobic and it could lead to gay suicide.

We decided to remove the scene from the video.

"It's not a view I shared - we've had two million people watch the video and [one] complaint ... but when people are talking about gay suicide ... we take that seriously.

"We'll see where the land lies in a couple of weeks."
