A gourmet-style takeaway business selling prepared hot roast lamb and hot vegetable meals is proposed for a vacant building on the corner of Hallenstein St and Gorge Rd.
Pedro's House of Lamb wants to operate a takeaway business from 141 Hallenstein St, where a chilled fish storage facility and fish shop had been granted consent last year.
A transport report from Traffic Design Group prepared for the Pedro's House of Lamb proposal says the fish shop application ''was subjected to a reasonably high level of review from [the] council due to the highly constrained nature of the site, in close proximity to an intersection''.
The fish shop was granted consent to operate with a number of traffic conditions proposed.
''An objection to some of the conditions was lodged, and a decision made to partially uphold the objection, through the removal of a condition that required the applicant to construct a raised throat island at the intersection of Gorge Rd and Hallenstein St.''
The fish shop did not go ahead.
Pedro's intends to ''operate the site in a similar manner to the previously consented development'' regarding access and parking arrangements.
Pedro's runs a similar business in Christchurch.
The Queenstown shop is proposed to be open to the public from 5.15pm to 8.45pm, with the food preparation and cooking beginning from 11am.
The split level building Pedro's proposes to occupy was recently a milk storage and distribution depot.
