Two contemporary roots reggae outfits take in Queenstown as part of their tour to promote King's Highway, a dancehall album that blends 1970s reggae with 21st century production twists.

Enduring sound system Dubwize and record label Reality Chant Productions joined an international ensemble of artists, including Luciano, Lutan Fyah, Natty King and Jah Mason for the 16-track album, released this month.

Gabriel "Messenjah" Calcott, Christchurch-based producer and DJ for both collectives, said members of the bands were spread across New Zealand, Australia, Africa and the United Kingdom.

"But for this show, we have vocalists all the way from Australia - Raz Bin Sam, an Israeli reggae artist, and Hua from Darky Roots."

Dubwize and Reality Chant featuring Raz Bin Sam and Hua present King's Highway, Dux de Lux, Thursday, August 5. Free entry.
