Community backers, local tradesmen and suppliers, along with supporters of the Hawea Flat Primary School, have pitched in to complete the Homefront Project - a three-bedroom house on a fenced and landscaped section at Timsfield, Lake Hawea.
Homefront co-ordinator Lindsey Schofield said the proceeds from the sale of the house would go towards funding activities and resources at the burgeoning Hawea Flat rural school, whose roll is about 165 pupils and increasing.
The home had been completed within budget, with the finishing touches being made to the interior of the house this weekend, she said.
Building manager Pete Teal said more than 60 local tradesmen and builders had given their time and skills to help complete the project.
The support of school sponsors and trades suppliers from across the Upper Clutha had been "phenomenal", Ms Schofield said.
The house will be put up for auction on Saturday, February 5, and the bidding is expected to start at $250,000.
"While we're extremely motivated vendors, we will not be giving this property away," she said.
The trio were not prepared to disclose the property's reserve price.
Open homes will be held at the property every Wednesday and Saturday until Waitangi weekend.
