Lobbyist society back on register

The Upper Clutha Environmental Society president Julian Haworth has taken steps to have the organisation restored to the incorporated societies register by the end of the month, following what he described as "a silly, administrative stuff-up".

Mr Haworth said once the society was restored, it would be deemed to have been operating continuously.

He only discovered the society had been removed from the register on January 22 while giving evidence against the Lammermoor wind farm earlier this month.

The problem arose because the society had forgotten to file recent annual accounts.

Mr Haworth said the accounts had since been completed and were now in order.

Mr Haworth also said the evidence he gave at the Project Hayes wind farm hearing "was my own and not the society's".
