Lisa Moore has not done a lot of theatre performing since high school, but after rehearsing for the role of Maria in The Sound of Music she does not know what she will do after the final curtain.

The speech and drama teacher at Remarkables Primary School performed in a Remarkables Theatre production earlier this year which ended up becoming a catalyst for her buried passion.

"I had not done anything for seven or so years and that got me back into it.

"I loved it and I don't know what I'm going to to with myself when this is finished, [but] I've already signed up for some other shows."

Ms Moore is a definite fan of The Sound of Music, having watched the film "hundreds and hundreds of times".

When she found out Showbiz would be staging the show she "thought that's something I should do" and originally auditioned for the role of the housekeeper.

She was instead chosen to play Maria, the postulant sent to become governess to Captain von Trapp's seven children.

Although she will appear in most scenes, she had not yet had the chance to become too daunted by the role, since director Bryan Aitken was keeping the performers "very busy".

Ms Moore credited the child actors for providing a fun atmosphere, saying "you can forget that you are on a stage and people are watching".
