The Auckland anthemic rock act's first single, The Letter, topped the charts and has remained in the top 10 for more than 15 weeks.
Supporting Midnight Youth on its nine-date nationwide tour is the South Island band Dukes, which has gone from winning MTV's Kickstart competition to touring with Th' Dudes and The Checks, and having a song played on US television series Brothers and Sisters.
Midnight Youth frontman Jeremy Redmore took time out from the tour to tell us what's on his menu.
QT: What did you have for lunch today?
JR: We're playing a show in Tauranga today, where my dad lives, so he's putting on a barbecue for us.
QT: What is your favourite food?
JR: My favourite would have to be Mum's spag bol.
QT: What is your favourite spot in Queenstown?
JR: I've never been there before so looking forward to exploring!
QT: Queenstown needs more . . .
JR: Apparently, Fergburgers.
QT: Queenstown needs less . . .
JR: Coldness.
QT: Who are your role models?
JR: Just any amazing musician who lasts in the industry, for examples, Radiohead and U2.
QT: What was the latest CD you bought?
JR: It was PNC's Bazooka Kid - awesome New Zealand hip-hop.

JR: A beach and a book.
QT: What winds you up?
JR: Being hungry with nothing but noodles to eat.
QT: What cracks you up?
JR: South Park.

JR: Shantaram, by Gregory David Roberts. Crazy true story that makes you ponder life.
