Sports store retailers Mark and Leonie Sanders celebrated their move into new commercial premises and the rebrand of their Helwick St business this week.
Next door, Fine Wools Wanaka retailer Marilyn Fraser and shop owner Jenny Reid have also re-opened for business in the new premises, while further along Helwick St customers have been treated to a new interior refit of Wanaka's main bookstore Paper Plus.
The Sanders have joined national sporting chain Hamills and say their rejuvenated retail operation will benefit from an investment by their landlord Hugh Lee to redevelop the Helwick St commercial property.
The site of the Sanders's new Hamills store has a 25-year association with the hunting, fishing, and sporting goods retail industry.
The investment in the new Helwick St building had modernised their business and would allow for the future planning of their retail operation, Mr Sanders said.
The refit at Paper Plus is part of the nationwide bookstore chain's $22 million investment in its company brand.
Wanaka is one of the first stores to benefit from the investment.
The remodelling is scheduled to be launched around the country during the next 14 months, a Paper Plus spokesman said.
Paper Plus manager Chris Lumsden, who has worked at the store for the past 12 years, said he was excited about the new look and feel after the refit.
Staff were proud of the new store and its "more customer-friendly" layout, Mr Lumsden said.
