"An extremely unique and rare opportunity" exists to own income-generating commercial wharves in Queenstown.

O'Regans and St Omer wharves will be auctioned through Colliers International on behalf of Ngai Tahu Property on November 8, unless sold before.

Included in the sale of the wharves is a mooring in Queenstown Bay, adjoining Queenstown Gardens, and a jetty in Kelvin Heights.

O'Regans Wharf includes berthage for large and small boats, links up with St Omer and is leased to commercial boat operators.

The St Omer Wharf complex features a fixed wharf, floating jetties, a launching ramp and a boat-fuelling facility and is leased to tourism operator Southern Discoveries.

Ngai Tahu Property chief executive Tony Sewell said the company felt it was the right time to sell the properties.

Colliers International sales broker Mark Simpson said there was an opportunity to own a strategic Queenstown CBD waterfront asset and also capitalise on the resort's continued growth.
