All 15 staff working for Wanaka-based coach operator Connexions are believed to be losing their jobs as a result of the business closing later this month.
The Otago Daily Times reported yesterday the company was to cease its transport services throughout Otago and Southland on June 30, following April's sale of Connexions' parent company, Dunedin City Council-owned Citibus Ltd, to Invercargill Passenger Transport Ltd.
A redundancy letter sent to a Connexions employee and supplied to the newspaper confirmed the business was to close and the employee, who asked not to be named, said all Wanaka staff - seven drivers and three administration staff - had been sent similar letters.
Yesterday, the employee confirmed a letter had also been sent to two Cromwell-based drivers and further inquiries confirmed three Queenstown-based drivers were also to be made redundant.
Invercargill Passenger Transport director Kayne Baas declined to comment other than to say the business was not making money and it planned to concentrate on its core business of urban and charter work.
