Tickets to the one-day celebration were $75 per person but are now selling at their regular retail rate of $89 per person.
Reveal Event Management director Samantha Stirling, of Queenstown, is the Wakatipu co-ordinator.
She said the festival was looking great and $89 was still a bargain for a full-day music festival compared to other music events.
"Queenstowners are known for being slow at purchasing their tickets and we are thrilled to see that the sales are already well under way.
"We have loads more promotions and marketing activities happening in Queenstown, Dunedin, Invercargill and surrounding regions over the next few weeks."
Ms Stirling said festival marketing had been national but Queenstown would become the focus in the countdown to the show.
Peak Festival 2009 is set to be the first of an annual music event in the resort and is promoted by the Australasian Music Corporate of New Zealand, which set up and promoted concerts by artists including U2, INXS and James Brown, as well as Groove In The Park from 2003 to 2005.
Director Chris Cole said they were "pleased to have found a destination that has been so welcoming to the concept of our festival".
"We want longevity.
"We want a festival that is going to be an annual must-attend summer activity for all of New Zealanders."
The final line-up for the event will be announced in the next few weeks.
However, Queenstown favourites dDub, blues roots combo Kora, pioneering dub act Salmonella Dub, chart-topping British dance duo Utah Saints, plus hip-hop DJ Sir-Vere and house DJs Sam Hill and General Lee were confirmed.
Dunedin dub-style band Six60 will perform its first major gig and the winners of the battle of the bands in Invercargill, Saints & Sinners, will also play the Peak as the competition's top prize.
The festival will occupy two stages at the Queenstown Events Centre (QEC), with the main stage on the cricket oval and the indoor stadium transformed into the Ministry of Sound room.
Tickets are available at the QEC, Queenstown i-Site, national Ticketdirect outlets and the Peak Festival website.
