In this week's Off Piste, The Remarkables host Scott Barriscale shares some of his experiences in his first season with NZSki.

Name: Scott Barriscale.

Job title: Host at The Remarkables.

Q) Where are you from?

A) Ireland.

Q) How many seasons have you done in the job and why did you choose it?

A) First season here. I chose New Zealand because it is the furthest I could get from Ireland.

Q) How would you describe the work?

A) Really great. I get to deal with people all day, both guests and staff. So everyone gets to know me and I meet lots of different people.

Q) What's the best thing about it?

A) Taking people out on the mountain on daily ski tours.

Q) And the worst thing?

A) The amount of stairs I have to run up and down between all the departments.

Q) How are you settling into Queenstown?

A) I've been here since the middle of January and I love it here. There is a big difference between summer and winter, but they are equally as good, because there is so much to do.

Q) What's the best advice you have for someone moving to Queenstown for seasonal work?

A) Get on the job hunt early.

Q) What's been your most amusing skifield experience to date?

A) I did a season in Switzerland and one night we had a meal up the mountain and skied down in the dark with torches - amusing.
