Police seek woman after unprovoked attack

An unprovoked attack by a woman early yesterday left a 28-year-old Wanaka woman with a bloodied nose and fat lip after she was "smacked in the face".

The attacker also used a broken bottle to threaten two men.

Constable Peter Reid said police were concerned at the unprovoked attack and violent threats made by the bottle-wielding woman.

Two men who intervened to break up the altercation were allegedly threatened with a broken bottle, Const Reid said.

The alleged offender, described as of Maori descent and believed to be aged in her 20s, was wearing a grey T-shirt, blue denim jeans, and had long dark hair tied in a ponytail, Const Reid said.

The attack happened about 1.30am outside a cafe on the corner of Lakeside Dr and Ardmore St in Wanaka.
