Range Rover crash blamed on slippery road

Heavy rain and a slippery road are to blame for a crash involving a Range Rover and tourist bus near Queenstown, police say.

Sergeant Mark Gill said the Range Rover braked to avoid a cyclist, slid and overturned on to its roof about 10km west of the resort on the Glenorchy-Queenstown Rd about noon yesterday.

A tourist bus with 14 passengers on board had to brake to avoid the overturned vehicle and slid into a bank.

There were no injuries, Sgt Gill said.

He attributed the accident to "very slippery'' road conditions during a downpour.
