Wakatipu teenagers will be able to cook up a storm in the new kitchen installed in the Youth Booth.
The facility is part of the refurbishment of Queenstown's youth centre, formerly known as X-It, on Stanley St. It was made possible by $50,000 from the Peter Wilding estate.
The refurbishment will include new carpet, lighting, computer booths, a flat-screen television and painting, thanks to a dozen Wakatipu businesses.
The Youth Booth will reopen on Monday, April 16, with fun activities planned for the second week of the holidays. A formal launch will take place at the beginning of term two.
Wakatipu Youth Trust youth worker Jacqui Moir said yesterday the kitchen was "going to be awesome".
"We know it will become a very popular and productive space.
"We are excited that, as well as our new look on the outside, with our signage, we're going to have a fresh look inside, too.
Ms Moir said trustees were thankful to the Peter Wilding estate and supportive businesses.
"It's very exciting thinking of all the activities we will be able to do with the kitchen and how much more welcoming the Youth Booth will be," she said.
Trust staff continued work on many other projects including the ASB Leadership Summit, Dare, fishing and climbing programmes plus the Ultimate Battle of the Musos competition.
The Youth Booth will open after the renovation on weekdays at 3pm to 6pm and hosts lunchtime activities in schools.
