'Rewarding' getting youngsters skiing

In this week's Off Piste, Coronet Peak Skiwiland instructor "Critter" Nielson shares some of his experiences in his first season with NZSki.

Q) Where are you from?

A) Salt Lake City, Utah, United States.

Q) How many seasons in the job and why did you choose it?

A) First season. It's similar to what I do back home.

Q) How would you describe the work?

A) Hard work, but at the end of the day it's really rewarding to see the little kids skiing.

Q) What's the best thing about it?

A) Cookies!


Q) And the worst?

A) If the kids are reluctant to ski.

Q) How are you settling in to life in Queenstown?

A) Life in Queenstown is fun. It's pretty wild and there is always something going on.

Q) What's the best advice you have for someone moving to Queenstown for seasonal work?

A) Find a pub you're comfortable with and stick there.

Q) What's been your most amusing skifield experience to date?

A) Any Utah powder day!
