St John Wakatipu ambulance officer Nikki McFadgen (left), Glenorchy first responder Pam Henderson and team collected $2830 towards a new ambulance for the Glenorchy township at the Glenorchy Races on Sunday. One Glenorchy man dropped a cheque for $1000 in a donation bucket. The total was added to the $11,000 already raised by the community towards the $75,000 needed for the 4WD ambulance. St John Wakatipu area executive officer Lynn Cain said St John in Glenorchy had a first response vehicle which was unable to transport patients directly to hospitals. The new ambulance would free a Queenstown crew and ambulance for other tasks.
