Transport safety measures around the new Remarkables School in Frankton gained approval from a Queenstown Lakes District Council utilities committee on Tuesday.
The committee approved a concept plan designed to improve the transport network around the school, due to open next year.
The plan includes footpaths on Lake Ave and Birse St, and intersection and right-of-way improvements.
The total cost is $202,400.
The Ministry of Education is also funding street-lighting and some footpaths around the school at $121,300.
The committee voted to request details from the school about provision of short-stay on-site parking for parents.
