A Wanaka sports facility steering group was established at a meeting of the Queenstown Lakes District Council this week.
The group comprises council project manager Ken Gousmett, community services general manager Paul Wilson, finance manager Stewart Burns, communications manager Meaghan Miller, and Peter Domigan, of Lakes Leisure Ltd.
Wanaka Community Board chairman Lyal Cocks and members Jude Battson and Mike O'Connor have also been appointed, along with community representatives Jonathan Walmisley and Duncan Good.
The group will consult with existing and potential user groups, stakeholders and the wider public to determine the necessary functions, space and facilities for the Wanaka sports facility site.
It will then oversee the concept design and costing for the project and present the completed business case to the Wanaka Community Board and the full council.
A decision was made in March this year to locate the $10 million stadium and associated facilities at a greenfields site in Willowridge Development Ltd's proposed Three Parks subdivision.
