Wanaka mechanic Brock Johnston will have to wait an extra week before he contests the Motor Trade Association (MTA) apprentice-of-the-year competition final.
The Mt Aspiring Motors mechanic could not travel to Wellington for finals on Saturday because of the storm which blanketed Southland in snow and cancelled flights out of Queenstown and Invercargill.
Mr Johnston (21) is the only South Island representative to make the MTA top apprentice finals and is up against mechanics from Auckland, North Shore, and Palmerston North, who showed their skills in Wellington at the weekend.
