Women injured in vehicle crash

A 23-year-old Queenstown woman and her 32-year-old passenger were taken to hospital on Monday morning after their vehicle crashed into a rock face on the side of Peninsula Rd in Kelvin Heights.

When Queenstown police arrived, the women could not be located but were found shortly afterwards at the nearby Hilton Hotel.

They were taken to the Lakes District Hospital with unknown injuries, Senior Constable Chris Blackford said.

Snr Const Blackford confirmed that alcohol had been consumed, but had no record of any charges laid.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
