Booze, cash stolen from Arrowtown restaurant

Police are investigating a burglary at a well-known Arrowtown restaurant, which is being refurbished.

Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka, of Queenstown, said CCTV footage revealed two hooded people entering the Postmasters Residence, on Buckingham St, at about 6.45pm yesterday.

The restaurant has been undergoing renovations for about three weeks.

"There was some painting going on and the door was left ajar slightly while the painter was out," Snr Sgt Enoka said.

Four bottles of spirits and about $400 was taken.

Police are asking witnesses who saw people acting suspiciously in Buckingham St between 5.30pm and 7pm yesterday to call Queenstown station on: 441-1600.

Cars parked in the Lower Shotover-Shotover Country area were entered overnight on Sunday but nothing was taken.

Snr Sgt Enoka did not know if that was related to the restaurant burglary.
