Free testing clinics for ‘visitor-facing’ workers

Hospitality, tourism and service sector workers are being targeted for free Covid-19 testing in Queenstown next week.

Drop-in clinics will be held on the Village Green to improve access for testing for visitor-facing workers.

WellSouth, the Southern District Health Board and the medical centre had worked together to provide the clinics, an advisory said.

The target group included "restaurant and bar staff, cleaning staff, as well as taxi/Uber and bus drivers, airport workers and others who may have had contact with people travelling from outside the South Island".

"These clinics will help increase surveillance testing numbers by making testing even more accessible for people working unusual hours or doing shift work, and for those without easy access to transportation.

"A strong turnout will be a boost for Queenstown and our hospitality industry — showing the rest of Aotearoa New Zealand that Queenstown residents care and that we are still a Covid-free destination."

The walk-in clinics will be open from Monday until Thursday, from 8am to 6pm.
