Queenstown Chamber of Commerce chief executive Ann Lockhart will step down from the role by the end of the year.

Chamber chairman Craig Douglas said Mrs Lockhart had worked tirelessly for members and had built a respected, quality organisation over the past 10 years.

``She has established herself as the go-to person for Queenstown for government ministers, state sector management and anyone wanting to understand how our special economy works.

``Her authenticity, integrity and ability to be even-handed in understanding and addressing the concerns and priorities for the Queenstown Lakes business community will be hard to match,'' Mr Douglas said.

Mrs Lockhart said she had ``mixed emotions'' about leaving the role, given the number of important issues being debated by the community at present.

``But, there was never going to be an easy time to leave.

``After 10 years, it feels like the right time to move on, spend more time with family and our own business in the Cardrona Valley.''

She and her husband, Blyth Adams, own the Waiorau Homestead bed and breakfast in Cardrona.

Mrs Lockhart will step down at the end of November.
