Robinson among sports award finalists

Some familiar names have made the cut for this year’s Otago Sports Awards.

Being announced at Dunedin’s Edgar Centre on June 12, five Queenstowners are in the running. Ski racer Alice Robinson’s again a finalist in the ‘sportswoman of the year’ category, alongside Wānaka snowboarder Zoi Sadowski-Synnott and Dunedin’s Juliette Lequeux (rowing). Robinson’s coaches, Nils Coberger and Tim Cafe, are up for ‘coach of the year’, as are Daniel Bogue (adaptive alpine skiing, Treble Cone) and Tom Willmott (snowsports park and pipe, Cardrona).

Young Queenstowners Indy Deavoll (mountain biking) and Hugo Bogue (cricket) have been named in the ‘emerging talent’ category, alongside Wānaka’s Raphael Anderson (golf), Cardrona’s Lucas Ball (freeski slopestyle and big air), and Dunedin’s Kiana Brown.
