A 58-year-old man is dead after an avalanche near Queenstown.
Queenstown Police are currently investigating the man's death after an avalanche near the Devil's Staircase about 2.45pm today.
The man was initially recovered from the avalanche debris, but died a short time later, Senior Sergeant Darryl Lennane said.
At this stage, the cause of his death is unknown and it has been referred to the coroner.
Police are working to advise the next of kin and are not releasing further details at present.
The avalanche struck near Loch Linnhe, south of Queenstown.
