The South Canterbury Indoor Bowls triples tournament honouring life members and sponsored by Wayne Williams and Margaret Bunt was played last Saturday.

There were two teams who won their four games and two teams with three wins. Neville Gould, Debra Ruffell and Gavin Harris won with 23 ends and 40 points ahead of Alan Reid, Lyn Brown and Neisha Hogg who had 20 ends and 42 points.

Third place with three wins, 20 ends and 37 points were Allan Gibson, Kevin Anngow and Carol Dawson.

Alan Jenks, Alistair Coles and Marian Coles were the other team with three wins, 18 ends and 29 points.

Life members supported this tournament and were acknowledged for their work over many decades.

Interclub resumed this week after having a break in June with players away at National Champs and Club NZ Nationals for men.

This weekend Timaru are hosting the Eastern Zone finals with category winners from Canterbury, Ashburton, South Canterbury and North Otago competing. The winners will represent this zone at the Super Finals Weekend in Pukekohe in September.

The following are the players that are representing South Canterbury and times the sections are being played.

Saturday, July 4 — mixed fours, 9am: Neville Gould, Debra Ruffell, Ruth Gould, Darryl Fowler.

Singles, 1.30pm: David Shand.

Masters Fours: David Mealings, Lyn Brown, Mary Mealings, Kelvin Lockyer.

Years 1-5 singles, qualifying and post section: Quinten Sullivan, John Dawson, Darryl Fowler, Alistair Coles, Marian Coles, Janice Eady, Neville Herbert.

Sunday, July 5 — years 1-5 pairs, 9am: round robin.

Mixed pairs, 10am: Carol Dawson, David Shand.
