Past and present staff from Clutha Health First gathered for an anniversary dinner on November 28 to mark 10 years since the hospital opened.
The existing Balclutha hospital opened on December 1, 1998, signalling the end of a battle to retain health services in the town.
The town's former hospital was closed and was replaced with a new, purpose-built facility.
Ray Anton oversees the financial and operating side of Balclutha's 10-year-old hospital.
He says it the best job he has had.
Mr Anton (53) arrived about three years into the new hospital's life and seems reluctant to leave.
The past seven years have seen many changes to the hospital building as it looks to make the best use of its space in central Balclutha.
"If a member of the public was to walk through here eight years ago and then again today, they probably wouldn't notice many changes.
But the staff who are here certainly would," he said.
And it is those staff who get the highest compliment.
"It's the people who make the organisation.
We are not a factory, we are a hospital."
