Club president Spencer Morrison said there had been great interest in the jubilee, with people attending from across the country and Australia.
"The number of people registered is a few more than we expected. It's going to be a fantastic weekend," he said.
The dinner will be hosted by radio personality Jamie Mackay with Jonah Lomu's former manager Phil Kingsley Jones the guest speaker.
From 9.30am today, several games of junior and under-13 rugby will be played, with the Premiers facing an Owaka side at 2pm. The Owaka team will include some invited players, including former Scotland and Otago player Brendan Laney.
A cake-cutting ceremony by three life members will take place this afternoon before the premier game.
Convener of the fundraising committee and renovations committee Tania Mckenzie said clubroom renovations began in October and were basically done, with only a few finishing touches left to go.
"About 15 years ago we were in the kitchen saying that something really needed to be done to fix the place up a bit. There's now a huge kitchen and wheelchair facilities, which is brilliant. Everyone's really looking forward to the jubilee," she said.
