Two hurt in another serious crash at Targa Rally

A 60-year-old man with serious injuries has been airlifted to Dunedin Hospital after a crash during the Targa Rally on Friday night.

Emergency services were called about 6.10pm to the crash at Switzer's Rd, near Park Hill, in the Clutha District.

A police spokeswoman said it appeared a car had struck a power pole.

Police reported another person was injured in the crash, but the extent of their injuries was unclear.

However, St John said the man was the only patient taken to hospital.

On Wednesday, two men were hurt - one seriously - in the same rally when their car, participating in the event's recreational ''tour'' category, left the road and crashed over a bank just before 1pm, during special stage 8 near Lawrence.

The seriously hurt man, in his 50s, was also flown to Dunedin Hospital.
